Cesspool Conversions Hawaii

Your cesspool has to go.
We make it painless.

Hawaii law (Act 125, 2017) requires every cesspool to be upgraded, converted, or connected to sewer by 2050, and the State's working group recommended the highest-priority areas be done by 2030. We handle the site survey, design, permits and install so you don't have to.

We serve every island

Cesspool rules, priorities and funding differ by county. Pick your island:

Oahu

About 7,500 cesspools, 64% rated Priority 1.

Maui

About 11,000 cesspools, concentrated Upcountry.

Hawaii Island

About 48,600 cesspools, more than half the state's total.

Kauai

About 14,300 cesspools, nearly half of all homes.

On Molokai or Lanai? Request a survey and we'll follow up.

Protect our reefs and drinking water

Cesspools release untreated wastewater into the ground, where it can reach groundwater, streams and the ocean. Converting to a modern system helps keep Hawaii's reefs and water clean.

Why now?

~83,000 statewide

Hawaii has about 83,000 cesspools: roughly 48,600 on Hawaii Island, 14,300 on Kauai, 11,000 on Maui, 7,500 on Oahu and 1,400 on Molokai (CCWG report).

Installers are booked

Only a few hundred cesspools are converted statewide each year. Getting on the schedule early matters.

Selling your home?

A converted system removes a red flag for buyers and lenders.

Is there financial help? The State authorized a cesspool conversion loan program for low- and moderate-income homeowners in 2026 (Act 120). It is administered by the Hawaii Green Infrastructure Authority and is not yet accepting applications. We'll let you know when it opens. DOH funding page
